While a low(er) carb diet may be helpful in certain specific cases, it does not work for everyone.  I am a lifelong diabetic (Type 1--insulin shots) and eat at least 90g of carbohydrates every day. This is what my doctor, my endocrinologist, and the latter&#039;s dietitian have advised me to do.

Before anyone drastically reduces his/her carbohydrate, fat, or protein intake, please go to your doctor and then a dietitian.  The dietitian will need information on any metabolic, hormonal, etc. issues that may interfere with proper metabolization of foods.  Only then can the dietitian offer valid advice about what one should or should not eat.
