If I Were 50 Again
This Is Exactly What I Would Do Differently
Three Decades, One Turning Point
At 40 (my actual birthday!), I cried in the doctor’s office as the scale tipped past 200.
At 50, the tricks that once worked stopped working. Crash diets failed, energy tanked, menopause snuck in like a thief in the night, and I felt invisible.
And all during my 50s, I carried a quiet fear: my dad never made it past 59, would I?
So when I turned 60, it was a cosmic 2 x 4, and I asked myself,
What am I waiting for?
That moment was a reset — a chance to finally stop “shoulding” myself into the ground and start asking a better question: “What if I could?”
The Roadmap I Wish I Had at 50
This book is not just about food or fitness (though you’ll get both). It’s about reclaiming your voice, your power, and your presence in every area of your life. It’s part story, part science, and part big-sister pep talk.
And it’s your invitation to enter this next chapter with energy, confidence, joy, and unapologetic purpose, no matter where you are today.
There’s an old Indian proverb that says:
“Everyone is a house with four rooms: a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual. Most of us live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even just to air it out, we are not a complete person.”
For decades, I lived mostly in my physical room — obsessing over my body, my weight, and allowing the number between my toes every morning to dictate how I felt about myself.
But the other rooms — my emotional, mental, and spiritual — were gathering dust.
When I finally opened the doors to all four rooms, something shifted: I stopped feeling something was missing and started to feel whole.
This book will show you how to do the same.
In the book, you’ll find the latest research, science, and heartfelt stories on what it means to live in the Four Rooms–
🌿 The Physical Room: Muscle = your midlife retirement account — the single best investment you can make in yourself. You’ll also learn how to navigate sleep struggles, revive sex in midlife, and eat in ways that actually support your changing body and energize you.
💓 The Emotional Room: Stop numbing and start feeling–I’ll show you how to navigate that and why it’s so important. Plus, you’ll learn all about emotional agility and how it is your real midlife superpower–not avoidance. You’ll learn how to dump the outdated stories that keep you small and rewrite your own narrative.
🧠 The Mental Room: There’s a subtle identity shift that makes new habits stick, and it’s a game changer–I’ll show you how. Who you believe you are matters way more than willpower, plus you’ll master retraining your brain to work for you, not against you.
✨ The Spiritual Room: How to feed the part of you that doesn’t show up in the mirror. You’ll learn about the seasonality of purpose and how to make that work for you. Why purpose (big or small) is one of the truest longevity strategies, and how tending this room makes you radiant in ways no wrinkle cream ever could.
Why Listen to Me?
Because I’ve lived it.
I’ve done the tears, the binge eating, the diets, the hot flashes, the people-pleasing, the am I enough questioning, the striving.
And I’ve done the work to come out the other side stronger, sharper, and more grounded than ever.
I’ve written bestselling books, coached thousands of women, and studied the science. But most importantly, I’ve walked through the fire myself.
This book isn’t theory and pie in the sky. It’s a lived experience backed by research, written to save you the years of trial and error I went through.

Why You Shouldn’t Wait
Too many women hit a certain age and realize they’ve lived their lives loving, giving, and endlessly supporting their spouses, kids, jobs, and everyone else’s demands, and there’s nothing left for them.
If I were 50 again, I wouldn’t waste a single second sidelining myself for everyone else.
I’d live bigger, bolder, louder. Not to take up space I don’t deserve, but to fill the space I was always meant to claim.
This book is your permission slip, your roadmap, and your reminder: you’re just getting started!

The Heart of the Story
I’ve spent most of my adult life feeding people—first with recipes, then my brainchild of menus, recipes, and shopping lists (which became a whole thing!), and now, at this stage in my life, with something much deeper.
Because here’s what I’ve learned after all these years: most women I know are starving in ways that food can’t fix.
We’ve fed everyone else.
We’ve carried the responsibility of the world on our backs. We’ve said “I’m fine” so many times that we’ve almost believed it. And somewhere along the way, the beautiful light inside us dimmed.

We’ve carried the responsibility of the world on our backs. We’ve said “I’m fine” so many times that we’ve almost believed it. And somewhere along the way, the beautiful light inside us dimmed.
And that’s why you’re here.
This isn’t just about dinner—it’s about nourishment. Real nourishment. The kind that wakes up your body, clears your mind, softens your heart, and reconnects you to your soul.
This is what being a woman in Full Bloom is about: understanding that the whole woman is more than just the parts we like or love; it’s about the entirety of who we are.
Rising to this idea of living in such a way is the antidote to burnout, invisibility, and that nagging feeling that life got smaller when you weren’t looking.
So let’s make a deal, you and I. No more of the same old thing. It’s time to live in Full Bloom, and I will be with you every step of the way.

Why You’re Here
When I turned 50, I thought I’d have it all figured out. Instead, I found myself wondering: Who am I now that everyone needs me less?
If I could go back, I’d tell that woman exactly what I’m telling you:
❝You’re not behind—you’re just being called forward.❞
Forward into strength. Forward into joy. Forward into the next version of yourself that isn’t defined by what you’ve lost, but by what you’re ready to claim.
That’s what Living in Full Bloom is about.
It’s the space between nutrition and meaning, between structure and surrender. It’s where you learn that how you feed yourself is how you lead yourself—back home to who you uniquely are.
And you don’t have to do it alone.

The Four Rooms
There’s an old Indian proverb that says,
“A human being is a house with four rooms: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Most of us live in one room and only visit the others occasionally—but to be whole, we must go into every room every day.”
That quote stopped me cold the first time I read it, because it named what I’d been missing.
I’d been tending the physical room—feeding, cleaning, working, striving—but the other rooms weren’t even a part of my consideration. As a matter of fact, they were so closed off, they were just plain forgotten about.
So now, everything I create—every recipe, every class, every conversation—is about opening all four rooms again.
You cannot feel the scope of who you are and why you’re here (on purpose and for purpose) if you’re not engaged with your entire self.

A Note From Me to You
If you’ve ever thought, “Is this all there is?”—you’re not alone! This is a very special place to be, believe it or not.
It’s a flashing yellow light on your dashboard letting you know that it’s time!
And the honest to God truth is, you are not too late, too old, or too far gone. You are a woman in the middle of a remarkable becoming.
And I’m right here with you. This is a metamorphosis, this is messy, and it’s extraordinarily magnificent all at the same time.
If you’re ready to live in Full Bloom, you’ve come to the right place.

As a nutritionist for over 25 years, I’ve been there. Hashimoto’s, hormonal weight gain, and yes, dealing with trauma and life’s ups and downs. I know what it takes to right your ship and as a woman of a “certain age”, I know how to make it happen for you just as sure as I made it happen for me!
