Tip, Trick & a Recipe: How to pump collagen into your body without plastic surgery

Sourced from the bones and marrow of cows, gelatin is a form of collagen that does absolute wonders in the body. (I am hooked on the stuff!) Gelatin is a good source of protein and it’s packed with amino acids. Gelatin will make your hair shiny, your skin smooth, your skin tight and your joints healthy—wowee!!

And while those benefits alone are fabulous, the main reason I eat gelatin is for my digestion. When you add gelatin to water the two bind together, helping to move mucus and food through your system. Sounds nasty, but it’s very healing for the gut.

Bone broth is a great example. Lots of quality gelatin from those bones!

Now for your Trick:

If you are going to use gelatin, look for quality gelatin from grass-fed animals so that you enjoy its benefits without worrying about consuming hormones and antibiotics. Great Lakes is a good brand.

Your Tip:

Saving Dinner now makes a fabulous protein powder called Perfect Paleo Protein. This stuff is 97% pure grass-fed animal protein and using it in your daily smoothie provides you with a perfect dose of pure protein. Because it’s full of collagen, your smoothies will have a smooth and creamy texture, just like a milkshake, but NO dairy!

      1. That sounds like a good protein source, but I wonder if it is as good for skin, hair and joints as gelatin. Probably not.
