In this video, Leanne Ely from SavingDinner.com shares her tool tip of the month: the microplane. What is a microplane? It is like a tiny, little grater.  And it is really fantastic because, it’s super sharp, and you can almost anything shave down with it. Here are a few things you can use on it:

  • Garlic
  • Radishes (Make a radish type of a garnish for a plate or in a salad)
  • Chocolate (Dark chocolate for the top of a desert is fantastic)
  • Nuts
  • Nutmeg
  • Ginger

The possibilities are endless, and a lot of people do not have a microplane. They just have a regular box grater. Box graters are fine but for the fine art of garnishing and getting something super fine, flavorful and to really beautiful, this is the bomb. Also, it is really fast and easy to use.  So it’s a time saver and is very multipurpose.  So, get yourself a microplane!
